Dental implants are among the most expensive treatments an American patient faces, and dental insurance rarely covers much of the cost. That is why many US patients, including many Indian-American families, look at treatment in India.

Planning around a long flight
Air India flies non-stop from New York JFK and Newark to Delhi in about 14 hours (Air India). Because the journey is long, the goal is to minimise trips:
- Full arch (All-on-4 / All-on-6): two trips. The first, about 7–14 days at Sterling, for the implants and a fixed temporary bridge, so you fly home with fixed teeth; the second, about two weeks, 3–6 months later, for the final bridge.
- Single implants: usually two trips, a few months apart. Many patients combine the second with a family visit.
- Send your scan first: a CBCT reviewed before you travel shows whether grafting is likely. A graft can often be done with the implant; if the implant has to wait for it to heal, it is placed at a later stage, on an extra trip.
Published guidance suggests waiting at least 72 hours after implant placement before flying, ideally about a week, and longer after a sinus lift (Felkai et al., 2023). On a flight this long, build in spare days.
Visa
US citizens can apply online for the e-Medical visa, valid for a year with multiple entries (official portal). OCI card holders do not need one. Step by step: e-Medical visa guide.
Aftercare with your US dentist
You leave with a full implant record (system, sizes, batch details and X-rays), so your US dentist can carry out routine check-ups and source compatible parts if ever needed. Read what your dentist at home needs from us.
