How it works

An implant is a small system, planned to behave like the tooth it replaces

01

Implant post

A titanium or ceramic (zirconia) screw placed in the jawbone, acting as the new root.

02

Abutment

A connector on the post that rises above the gum line to hold the crown.

03

Crown

A custom, natural-looking tooth attached to the abutment, designed in Sterling's in-house lab.

Who it is for

Dental implants usually suit

  • Adults missing one tooth, several teeth or a whole arch
  • Enough jawbone to hold an implant, or bone that can be rebuilt with a graft or sinus lift
  • Healthy gums, or gum disease treated before the implant
  • People who would rather not have healthy neighbouring teeth cut down for a bridge, or whose denture moves

When the plan needs more care

Smoking
Smokers have higher odds of implant failure. Tell the dentist honestly; stopping helps.
Diabetes
Well-controlled diabetes is compatible with implants; poorly controlled diabetes is brought under control first.
Bone medicines or radiotherapy
Some bone-strengthening medicines and radiotherapy to the jaw change the plan. Bring your medicine list.
Gum disease
Active gum disease is treated first, by a periodontist, so the implant starts in healthy gums.

The procedure

Fixed full-arch teeth in 7–14 days

Every stage is planned up front. You leave the first visit with fixed temporary teeth; the final bridge follows on a second visit of about two weeks once the implants have healed.

“A full-arch case used to mean months without teeth. With CBCT, CAD/CAM and our in-house lab working together, most patients now leave their first visit with fixed teeth in under two weeks.”
Dr. Tarun Kumar Giroti

Timeline

How long a single implant takes

Usually a few months from placement to the final crown, most of it healing time. A full arch takes two trips: 7–14 days for fixed temporary teeth, then about two weeks for the final bridge, 3–6 months later.

  1. 1 · Day 1

    Consultation and CBCT scan

Examination, a 3D scan and a written plan with the implant system and the cost. The consultation is ₹1,000; the CBCT scan or any X-ray is charged separately.

  2. 2 · When you are ready

    Implant placement

Under local anaesthesia; sedation is available. If a graft is needed first, it usually heals for about 4–6 months.

  3. 3 · A few months

    Healing

The bone grows onto the implant. A same-day crown is possible in some cases, when the bone allows.

  4. 4 · After healing

Benefits

Why an implant at Sterling

  • Does not touch or weaken the teeth next to it, unlike a bridge
  • Helps preserve jawbone that would otherwise shrink after tooth loss
  • Works like a natural tooth: comfortable chewing and speech
  • Can last for decades with proper care
  • Planned on a CBCT scan before treatment, never decided at the chair
  • Titanium and ceramic (zirconia) options, including a metal-free choice

Questions

Common questions about dental implants

Is getting a dental implant painful?+

Placement is done under local anaesthesia, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain, and some soreness for a few days afterwards is normal. Every step, from your first call to your final review, is built around your comfort, and sedation is available for anxious patients.

How long does the whole process take?+

A single implant usually takes a few months from placement to final crown, most of it healing time. Full-arch cases at Sterling take two visits: fixed temporary teeth in 7–14 days, using CBCT, microscopes and CEREC technology together, then the final bridge on a second visit of about two weeks, 3–6 months later, once the implants have healed.

Who will place my implant?+

Dr. Tarun Kumar Giroti, who has placed 12,000+ implants as lead surgeon, in more than 31 years of practice, leads implant treatment at Sterling. He is a Key Opinion Leader for Nobel Biocare and Alpha-Bio, trained with Dr. Paulo Malo (All-on-4) in Lisbon and at Nobel Biocare symposia in Tokyo, Gothenburg and New York. The wider team has completed 15,150+ implant cases.

What is the difference between a single implant and All-on-4 or All-on-6?+

A single implant replaces one missing tooth. All-on-4 and All-on-6 use four or six implants to support a full, fixed arch, for patients missing most or all of their teeth.

Is a ceramic (zirconia) implant a good option if I have metal sensitivities?+

Yes. Ceramic (zirconia) implants are completely metal-free, which makes them the right choice for patients with metal sensitivities or a preference to avoid metal.

How much does a dental implant cost in Delhi?+

At Sterling, a single implant is from ₹40,000 (about £310 or US$420) depending on the implant system, and All-on-4 is from ₹3,50,000 per arch. The implant price does not include the crown: a metal-ceramic crown is ₹15,000 and a zirconia full-ceramic crown ₹20,000. The type and number of implants and whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed change the total, so your exact quote is given in writing after a CBCT scan.

How much is the first implant consultation?+

A first implant consultation is ₹1,000; a CBCT scan or any X-ray is charged separately (clinic fee as of 28 October 2026).

Is the crown included in the implant price?+

No. The implant price does not include the crown: a metal-ceramic crown is ₹15,000 and a zirconia full-ceramic crown ₹20,000. Your written quote lists the implant, abutment, crown and any grafting separately.

Is every implant planned on a CBCT scan?+

Yes. Every implant case at Sterling begins with a CBCT 3D scan, so the bone, nerves and sinus are mapped and the implant position is planned before treatment, not decided at the chair.

Are dental implants safe?+

Safety depends on the clinic: an experienced, registered surgeon, a CBCT scan and digital plan, a recognised international implant system, a written quote, and a clear aftercare plan. A 2019 systematic review estimated that about 96% of implants survive 10 years; results vary by patient and case, and no clinic can guarantee an individual outcome.

What does a Straumann or Nobel Biocare implant cost in India?+

At Sterling, a Straumann implant is ₹60,000 and a Nobel Biocare implant ₹60,000, crown separate. Every system Sterling uses has its own page with what it suits and what it costs.

Which implant brands does Sterling use?+

Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Alpha-Bio, DIO and Zimmer. The dentist recommends one for your case after the CBCT scan and explains the price difference; each system has its own page on this site.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?+

Most adults with missing teeth are, if there is enough jawbone or it can be rebuilt with a graft, and the gums are healthy. Smoking, diabetes, some bone medicines and radiotherapy to the jaw need more careful planning. The CBCT scan and examination at your consultation give you a clear answer.

I am coming from outside Delhi or outside India. Can treatment fit a short trip?+

Yes, this is common at Sterling, which treats patients from 97+ countries. Full-arch cases fit into two trips: about 7–14 days for the implants and fixed temporary teeth, then about two weeks for the final bridge, 3–6 months later.
