At The Sterling Dental Clinic in Vasant Vihar, South Delhi, a single dental implant costs from ₹40,000–45,000 (DIO) to ₹60,000 (Straumann or Nobel Biocare), depending on the implant system. The implant price does not include the crown: a metal-ceramic crown is ₹15,000 and a zirconia full-ceramic crown ₹20,000. Why does the cost of dental implants vary so much in Delhi?
Search for tooth implant cost in Delhi and you will find figures that differ by tens of thousands of rupees. Much of that difference comes from what is, and is not, included in the number. These are the main things that change the price.
1. The implant brand
Implant systems differ in their research history, surface treatment, range of parts and how widely they are available around the world. Premium systems such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare cost more; established mid-range systems such as DIO and Alpha-Bio cost less. A well-placed mid-range implant can be a sound choice. The right system depends on your bone, the position of the tooth and your budget, and your dentist should be able to explain why a particular one is suggested.
If you live abroad or move often, it is also worth asking whether dentists where you live can obtain parts for that system later.
2. Whether you need bone grafting or a sinus lift
Bone shrinks after a tooth is lost. If there is not enough bone to hold the implant securely, a bone graft (₹10,000–20,000 at Sterling) may be needed. In the upper back jaw, where the sinus sits close to the ridge, a sinus lift (₹40,000) may be needed to make room. Not everyone needs either, and nobody can tell you for certain without a 3D scan. This is the most common reason an early phone estimate changes.
3. The number of implants
One implant replaces one tooth. Several missing teeth in a row can often be replaced with fewer implants supporting a bridge, which can cost less than one implant per tooth. Your plan should show how many implants are proposed and why.
4. The crown material
A metal-ceramic crown is strong and has a long track record. A zirconia full-ceramic crown has no metal and can look more natural, particularly near the front of the mouth. The choice changes the total by the difference between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000 per tooth.
5. Full-mouth options
If most or all teeth in a jaw are missing or failing, replacing each one individually is rarely necessary. All-on-4 and All-on-6 support a full fixed arch on four to six implants, and at Sterling cost ₹3,50,000–6,00,000 per arch depending on the number of implants, the material, whether guided surgery is needed and whether grafting is needed. When the upper jaw has very little bone, zygomatic implants (₹70,000 per implant) anchored in the cheekbone may avoid major grafting. Read more about full-mouth dental implants.
6. Planning and the team
A 3D CBCT scan, a digital plan and, in some cases, a surgical guide add to the cost but help place the implant where the bone and the final tooth need it. The surgeon's training and experience, and the quality of the lab that makes the crown, also play a part.
What should a dental implant quote include?
A low headline price can turn into a high final bill if parts are left out. Before you compare clinics, ask for a written quote that lists each of these separately:
- the consultation and the CBCT scan
- the implant, by brand, and the number of implants
- the abutment (the connector between implant and crown)
- the crown, and what it is made of
- any extraction, bone graft or sinus lift
- any temporary tooth or denture while you heal
- follow-up and review appointments
Also ask what happens if the plan changes during treatment, for example if a graft turns out to be needed. A clear quote lets you compare like with like.
Are dental implants in South Delhi more expensive?
Prices across Delhi depend far more on the implant system, the case and what is included than on the neighbourhood. Two quotes from the same area can differ widely, and two from opposite ends of the city can be close. Comparing itemised quotes is more useful than comparing locations.
Is a dental implant worth the cost?
An implant usually costs more at the start than a removable denture or a conventional bridge. In exchange, it does not rely on the neighbouring teeth, which a bridge needs to be cut down to support, and it does not rest on the gum like a denture. With good home care and regular check-ups, implants can serve for many years, though no dentist can promise how long an individual implant will last. Whether it is worth it depends on your mouth, your health and your priorities, and a good dentist will also explain the alternatives.
Getting an accurate price
The prices above are indicative and are confirmed after a consultation. At Sterling, every implant is planned on a 3D CBCT scan, and the quote you receive afterwards lists the implant, abutment, crown and any grafting separately, so you know the total before treatment begins. If you are travelling, you can send a recent scan or X-ray in advance for a first opinion. Find out more about dental implants at Sterling.
Common questions
Is the CBCT scan included in the implant price?+
At Sterling the implant price covers the implant and its placement, and the CBCT 3D scan is listed separately at ₹10,000. The scan is what shows whether you have enough bone, whether grafting is needed and which implant size suits you, so it comes before a firm quote. When comparing clinics, check whether their quoted price includes the scan.
Does dental insurance cover implants in India?+
Many health and dental insurance policies in India do not cover dental implants, or cover them only after an accident. Policies differ widely, so read your own policy wording or ask your insurer directly before treatment. If you are insured abroad, ask whether your plan reimburses treatment done overseas and what paperwork it needs, so the clinic can provide itemised bills.
Is a cheaper implant brand a bad choice?+
Not necessarily. Established mid-range systems such as DIO and Alpha-Bio are used in many countries and can work well when the case is planned and placed carefully. Premium brands offer a longer research record and wider availability of parts abroad. The right choice depends on your bone, the tooth being replaced and your budget, so ask your dentist to explain the reasoning.
Why might my final cost differ from the first estimate?+
An estimate given before a scan is a starting point. The CBCT scan may show that a bone graft or sinus lift is needed, that a different implant size or number suits you better, or that a tooth must be removed first. A good clinic gives you an itemised written quote after the scan and explains any change before treatment starts.
How much does it cost to replace a whole jaw of teeth with implants?+
At Sterling, full-arch implants cost ₹3,50,000–6,00,000 per arch. Grafting, the number of implants, the bridge material and whether guided surgery is needed can change this, and the exact figure is confirmed after a consultation and CBCT scan.
